To Felix For Her New Name,
by Jane LeCroy, 2006
Love cries out
It is not a choice to tell it
Love is written on your eyes
It seeps from you
Un-concealable blossoms
That pour from your flesh
Everything is molecules
When we name things we give molecules a shape, a life
Our feelings decide the state: liquid or solid or vapor
We say it is a science and blame chemistry and physics
But lovers know nothing makes sense
If you love someone you are lucky
You get a break from yourself and think of another
You feel like the beloved is transforming your eyes
But really, your eyes are transforming the other
Into BELOVED
Remember this:
The lover is the more powerful
The beloved is honored, awed, maybe even terrified
But always envious
(we all hate ourselves
how can the lover be so blessed to escape self
and procure complete wonder ???)
Passion achieves the fame
Love is recognized, holy
To be beloved is mere circumstance
To be burning is the goal of this life
To be on fire, to live as the light, the heat you are
To disappear in a blaze
To completely transform
Shift states in a single glance
Solid Liquid Vapor
I remind you that the words
“Cold Liquid Glass”
make it so,
Sorceress.
You are moved
One state to another
